Community Rated Voluntary plans can provide your employees with the dental options they need, without a contribution from you. Community Rated plans offer fixed rates that won't change if your employee enrollment fluctuates. Members in these plans enjoy the same access to local and national provider locations through either the Dental Blue or Dental Blue PPO provider network, depending on the dental plan selected.
To be eligible to offer Community Rated Voluntary plans, an employer must have five or more full-time equivalent enrolled employees. Employers should offer a Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts medical plan alongside the dental plan. If an employer doesn’t offer a Blue Cross medical plan, the employer must offer two ancillary products through IndigoTM Insurance Services alongside the dental plan to be eligible for a Community Rated Voluntary plan. Employers who provide Dental Blue and Indigo products may qualify for a four percent dental rate discount.
